Gartner are a US IT Research Company who over the past few years have reduced in size, going from two buildings into one. To do this they encouraged home working for many of their consultants and researchers. However they were then left with a building cramped full of desks and no one in it – they all preferred to work from home. We worked with them to develop an ‘activity based workplace’ aimed at encouraging staff to come into the office, therefore aiding communication, mentoring, cross fertilisation of ideas – making staff proud of their workplace, making the office attractive to new recruits and finally increasing flexibility to cater for future growth and business changes. It was so successful they rolled out the design to another floor.
